In today’s world, it should probably come as no surprise that we use our cellphones a lot. But did you know that a full 63% of adult cellphone owners use their phones to go online? And it doesn’t stop there. Of these, 34% go online using mostly their phones, and not some other device, such as a desktop or laptop computer.

Whenever we pick someone up from Sea-Tac who’s never been to Seattle before, we love watching their reactions when downtown comes into view as we cruise along Interstate 5, or seeing their jaws drop as they snap a few great pics from Kerry Park. It’s three o’clock in the morning, and you’re standing in front of Sea-Tac after enduring a grueling five-hour flight. You’re exhausted, and can’t stop thinking about walking through the door of your warm, comfortable home, taking a hot shower, and curling up in bed. But there’s just one problem: You called the taxi company 20 minutes ago, and there’s still no sign of them. You’ve already made a couple follow-up calls, and the short-tempered person answering the phone just says, “They’re on their way.” You’re tired, fed-up, and just want to make it home, and you ask yourself, “Why am I paying for this displeasure?”

Do you remember how you felt as a child when you passed by the candy aisle at the grocery store? The shelves seemed to go on forever, and the sweet, chocolaty goodness was almost too much to comprehend. Even if you would have been allowed to eat whatever you wanted, it would have been impossible for you to decide—there were just too many choices, each one seemingly better than the last.

After a long, grueling flight, you’re tired. You just want to make it to your final destination, so you can relax and enjoy yourself. You grab your luggage, exit the airport terminal, and hail a taxi. After climbing in, you notice a “unique” odor, and you look around and see that it probably hasn’t been thoroughly cleaned in a very long time. The driver doesn’t say much, other than to ask what part of Seattle you’re going to—at which point you notice there’s no credit card machine. “Great,” you think to yourself. Even though you’ve only been in the taxi for less than a minute, you can already tell it’s going to be a less-than-stellar ride.

To put this in perspective, this means that on average, 3,819 passengers arrived at or departed from Sea-Tac every hour of the day, seven days per week, throughout the entire year.
